However, each layer is carefully engineered to give you a better night's sleep from the very first night. I took a peek inside the removable cover to see all the layers that are used and couldnβt wait to see how well they worked together. Where memory foam is known for heat retention, Panda has counteracted this by using fresh bamboo. The cover is made from bamboo fabric and the top foam layer is infused with bamboo. Nature provides the answer to other design challenges too, as bamboo isn't just temperature regulating. It is also odour-resistant, anti-bacterial, hypoallergenic and has moisture-wicking properties to pull moisture away from your skin at night to leave you feeling fresh.
The perfect mattress for every sleeper
Wonderful for pain
Those with back, neck or chronic pain will benefit from the Panda mattress because it'll relieve the pressure points. Using it with a Panda pillow will keep your head supported and in alignment too. Panda Hybrid mattress can be suitable for everyone – back, front, side, hot, cold sleepers – you name it, they'll love it. The mattress fits many solutions but we want to focus on it being an orthopaedic mattress. I felt the mattress was pretty firm when I first laid down, but then it soon contoured to my position. This firmness comes from the core OrthoAlign Foamβ’ layer, which is basically a high-density foam that supports and aligns the spine.
The reason Panda London only offers a firm mattress is that it will take much longer to sag and flop, compared to other mattresses. Keeping it firm makes it last longer which makes it really great value. It won't lose effectiveness as quickly so you won't be swapping it every few years.
Incredible comfort
Thereβs no need to be concerned about it being too firm, so you don't need to look into getting the mattress topper as well. Your mattress will provide you with comfort.
There is an upper BioCell Foamβ’ layer, utilising open cell technology and infused with bamboo. In short, this is what makes the mattress super comfy and helps to regulate body temperature, alongside the bamboo cover. Your mattress will provide you with ideal comfort as all the layers work together. You will have the best sleep as I felt myself sinking into the top layer, but caught by the next layer to support my whole body. Itβs like a squishy marshmallow on a firm biscuit base. The dream combination.
Control the movement
Those who share a bed with a fidgety partner will experience the benefits of the seven-zone spring support, with up to an impressive 1500 pocket springs. It is the layer of the mattress that isolates any movement whilst your body remains supported. We know how annoying it is when you're trying to sleep and the person next to you keeps moving around – then nudges you awake. This is where the springs take control so you will no longer be woken up by constant movement. No more kicking your partner out of bed to go sleep on the sofa.
When trying it out, I found the mattress was quick to mould to my body. Therefore, the only movement is where the pressure points are, so unless you or your partner are taking up the whole mattress, there's no reason for you to feel motion transfer.
Keep it cool and allergy-free
Say goodbye to allergies at night.
As someone with hay fever, I know all too well about allergies being set off whilst trying to sleep! Thankfully, the whole mattress is a naturally hypoallergenic mattress due to the bamboo. The zip-off cover on the mattress is easy to keep fresh, it can just be popped in the wash (and you can still sleep on the mattress without it, while you wait for it to dry!). Bamboo can be soothing for various conditions often irritated by other bedding fabrics – I found it to be very soft and gentle on the skin.
Allergies aside – we briefly touched on overheating and when talking to Panda, we were impressed to find out that the cooling mattress has got excellent breathability and keeps everyone cool. This makes it perfect even for those who are sensitive to heat, such as women who are going through the menopause. It is rare to find a bedding brand that focuses on this, but itβs certainly welcome. You will no longer have to worry about night sweats and being too warm during the night.

So, put your feet up, have a cuppa and scroll through your Facebook feed while they do all the heavy lifting – thatβs precisely what I did. They will take the mattress to your room of choice (typically the bedroomβ¦) free of charge, so I didnβt have to lift a finger to get it up the stairs.
