All of that being said, you ought to keep these three things in mind – as no product is ever perfect.

• Not very firm – this is very important if you sleep on your stomach.
• Not a practical design – there is no strap to secure it to mattresses, and it slips over time.
• Slight off-gassing – as with every memory foam product, you can expect it for the first day or so.

The most common problem you're likely to face with this foam mattress topper is off-gassing. And the solution is rather simple – just leave it in a well-ventilated room for a night or two. Not only will the smell disappear, but the topper will also have time to fully expand.

Another problem is the topper can slip if you move a lot during the night because there is no way of securing it to the mattress – so, it is worth using a fitted sheet to keep it in place for longer.

The office hours are only Monday-Friday, unlike other companies who are available 24/7. This can make contacting them difficult if you are needing an immediate response.

Is the Silentnight Impress 7cm Memory Foam mattress topper eco-friendly or sustainable?

As a brand, Silentnight seems to be very eco-friendly. They're part of multiple green initiatives and have committed to being carbon-neutral by 2040. However, the Impress mattress itself isn't as green.

• The mattress isn't biodegradable

Overall, Silentnight seems to be doing its best to become more sustainable. However, this particular topper doesn't seem sustainable or eco-friendly.

Overall impressions of the product after the testing

Overall, this topper has met our expectations in a few significant ways. When testing, we found it just as comfortable as advertised, even when paired with an older mattress. While it is not more supportive than others, the mattress topper did seem to offer sufficient pressure relief. The lack of support is not as suitable for heavy sleepers, whereas light sleepers will not be affected as much. There were some off-gassing issues, but they didn't linger for more than a day.
