The Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow is best suited for side sleepers and hot sleepers. Its soft-to-medium firmness makes it ideal for back sleeping, although side sleepers will find it comfortable as well.
The name itself should make it clear why the pillow is good for hot sleepers. In addition, the pillow is hypoallergenic and machine washable, making it a good choice for allergy sufferers.
We use the Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow for comfort and temperature-controlled sleep.
When you are too hot, whether you are a hot sleeper or not, you will not be able to fall asleep or you will wake up during the night.
Also, it is uncomfortable to lie on a damp pillow, and this pillow wicks away moisture. In addition, it is comfortable due to its softness.
In this part of our review, we will tell you more about the filling, cover, support and temperature control of the Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow, which, in our opinion, are the most important features of this product.
This pillow is filled with two new materials that bring you improved performance. Microfibre has been one of the most popular polyester materials in the sleep industry for many years because it is soft, comfortable, durable, hypoallergenic and machine-washable.
The Smartfill microfibre is an additionally improved version of the microfibre and makes up 80% of this pillow.
The other 20% is Modal acrylic blend fill. Modal is new, eco-friendly material. It is obtained from naturally grown beech wood, so this is wood pulp-based cellulosic fibre. Modal fibres are very flexible and that is why this is a soft material, and its main feature is that it wicks away moisture.
Not only do hot sleepers have trouble finding a pillow that suits them, but those who don't typically sleep hot also often have the same issues during summer. Thankfully, the Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow offers a high level of temperature control.
It is a highly breathable pillow due to the material and construction, and the Modal technology wicks moisture away and thus provides you with a perfectly cool and comfortable sleep environment.
With this new invention, you no longer have to wake up drenched in sweat and change your pillow in the middle of the night.
Even if you like soft pillows, which the Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow certainly is, there must be a certain level of the neck and head support. Not everyone wants a highly supportive pillow, but if the pillow does not provide any support, you will wake up with pain in your neck, head and spine, and these problems can become chronic.
Once you sink in the softness of this pillow, you will feel that it provides you with just enough support while still being comfortable, making it suitable for almost any sleeper out there.
The cover is not removable, but the pillow is fully machine washable so you can use this pillow without a pillowcase. Although, we'd advise you use one – it'll make your pillow last longer. However, if you decide to go raw, we'd say you'll be pleased with the fact that the cover is high quality and comfortable. It is made of a combination of cotton and exceptionally breathable fibre Modal. We've already talked about the Modal acrylic, only this time, it's added to the cover to wick the surface moisture away, too. Cotton is one of the favourite materials in the sleep industry because it has all the necessary characteristics to make your night's sleep comfortable.
And, if you fall in love with the modal technology present in the pillow, you may be interested in getting yourself a Breathe pillow protector, Breathe duvet or even a Breathe mattress protector.
The Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow is a soft to medium firm pillow, closer to soft than medium, which means it should give you a good night's sleep.
On a firmness scale from 1 to 10, we'd give it a four. We'd say that's realistic, albeit, people do have different perceptions of how firm something is, so your experience might differ ever so slightly. Anyway, at this level of firmness, a good deal of folks should be able to enjoy it, as most folks do prefer a soft, plush pillow.
While we're on the subject of firmness and softness, while the pillow is light and fluffy, it provides good enough support for side and back sleepers, eliminating neck ache in the process, and allowing you to get enough restorative night's sleep.
We found that the ones that will like this somewhat luxurious pillow the most are hot sleepers. This one's highly breathable and regulates the temperature well, so it is very pleasant even during the summer months.
The cover is made of 100% sustainably sourced cotton, while the filling is a combination of 80% Smartfil microfibre and 20% Modal, which we discussed earlier.
One thing to note is that this pillow is in Estonia but conforms to all British regulations, so no worries there.
As for drawbacks, there are a few, but none major. It's just that the pillow is too high for most stomach sleepers and that there have been some durability concerns, since the filing tends to flatted over time, especially after a lot of washing.
The biggest problem with this pillow is that it tends to become flat after a few hours of use. This puts too much strain on your neck and upper back, especially if you're sleeping on the side the whole night.
It's not a common occurrence, but it does tend to happen.
So, how do you solve it? Well, unfortunately, this is not something you can solve easily or too effectively. You could try sleeping on two pillows, but we'd advise against it.
If the Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow does not suit you because of your sleeping position or you want a pillow that has different characteristics, consider the Simba Hybrid pillowas the best alternative to this one.
Simba Hybrid pillow is one of a kind pillow on the UK market. The Simba has implemented an active temperature regulation technology called Stratos which is astronaut-inspired.
It is one of the two sides of this pillow because it has two different sides. The Stratos side is marked with a blue stripe and made of phase change material (PCM) that absorbs, stores and releases heat, depending on whether you are hot or cold.
The other side, marked with a grey stripe is made of BCI-sourced cotton which is also breathable, comfortable and durable. Pillow is CertiPUR certified and it is free of TCPP, phosphate and parabens.
Certainly, not every pillow will offer you breathability and temperature-controlled sleep the way the Fine Bedding Company Breathe pillow will do.
Hot sleepers will especially benefit from using this pillow and that is why this product is better than some other similar ones. Also, many customers will find it very comfortable because it is soft yet supportive enough. We love the fact that it is hypoallergenic and machine washable, as these are very important characteristics of every sleep product.
Free delivery is for all orders over £ 50 and since this pillow is cheaper, unless you order two, you will pay a standard delivery fee – £ 4.65. Standard delivery usually takes 3 to 5 working days, and free return is available within 14 days if the product is unused and in original packaging. There is no trial period. As it is available in only one size, so ordering will be very quick and easy.
Apart from the usual odour that every new product has, no off-gassing was present. The quality inspection went great because overall we got the impression that it is a high-quality, well-made product.
We then washed it at 40 degrees C in a washing machine following care instructions, and then we tumble dry it on low heat until it was completely dry and ready for the overnight test.
Stomach sleeper from our test team tried it first and very quickly realised that this pillow does not fit that sleep position, which was to be expected when we know loft and softness. The side sleeper said in the morning that he had a really great night’s sleep, he was very comfortable, he got enough support from the pillow, and at he didn’t feel heat retention at any point. Our resident back sleeper had the same impressions.
All in all, we found this one to be pretty decent. It does what it's supposed to do, it's breathable, and it's pretty comfortable for side sleepers.
It does have a few drawbacks that need to be assessed by the manufacturer, but overall – it's a product many would find to enjoy.
Overall, we'd say 8 out of 10. But after reading our the Fine Bedding Company Breathe Pillow review, what do you think? Will you get this pillow? Let us know in the comments!
