Dormeo Hybrid Latex Mattress Review

Although latex, both natural and synthetic, is a material that has many benefits, it is not as popular in the sleep industry as some other materials. If you are on the market for a mattress that contains latex, then it is very possible that you will buy a mattress made by the famous UK sleep company Dormeo, as it is not uncommon for Dormeo to add a layer of latex to their products. Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress has caught our attention, so here is a review by The Sleep Advisors.

Who is Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress for?

Dormeo Options Hybrid Latex mattress is a medium firm mattress, but on the verge of being medium to firm, so it is for back and stomach sleepers. It will not allow the hips to sink lower than the shoulders and thus allows a neutral position of the spine when sleeping in these two sleep positions giving you great night’s sleep.

It can be too firm for side sleepers who may experience pain in the arm and shoulder, primarily, as a result of firmness so it might not offer side sleepers an effortless sleeping environment.

It should be good for hot sleepers too, because of the breathable Airmesh sides that won’t capture hot and humid air inside.

What do we use this product for?

We use Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress to alleviate pain at pressure points and for support. It moulds very well to the shape of your body, so the support is better that the average mattress can provide.

  • We use it for pressure relief
  • We use it for support
  • We use it for sweat-free nights since it is breathable
  • We use it due its high level of durability.

Features you should know about the Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress

Let’s focus on the features that have the biggest impact on the performance of the this specific Dormeo mattress, such as individually placed pocket springs, pressure relieving memory foam and other.

Individual pocket springs

Spring mattresses have been available on the market for a very long time because they are durable and supportive. But in recent years they have been significantly improved by being individually created and placed in own fabric pockets, each separately. The Dormeo Options Latex mattress also features upgraded individually wrapped pocket springs, and we will explain to you exactly what the difference is compared to the springs that were once used.

Since each spring is made separately and wrapped separately, one does not affect the other, but each moves independently. This way you get restful and supportive sleep, and also motion isolation is great, because the movements of your partner are not transferred to you.

Highly breathable air meshes

Whether you are a hot sleeper or not, you can’t sleep comfortably when you are too hot and when you sweat all night long. That’s why Airmesh sides have been implemented enhancing constant air circulation so optimum breathability is achieved to prevent overheating.

Side air vents providing efficient air circulation and thus make the sleeping environment cool, dry and without dust mites. Increasingly, we encounter Airmesh sides / walls on mattresses and pillows, so we expect this to become an industry standard because it has brought a huge improvement in the field of breathability.

Non-slip base

It is very irritating when the mattress does not stand firmly on the bed frame. It can even wake you up during the night because you will feel instability as if you are sleeping on a train and not in your bed. That is why a non-slip base has been implemented on this mattress, which is made of a unique non-slip material, so the mattress will always stand in its place, no matter how much you toss and turn during sleep.

Eco-Cell foam

Ecocell foam is a next-generation type of foam that has a 3-dimensional cellular structure, to make breathability excellent. Also, it is permanently elastic and durable, so it will not lose its characteristics even after several years of use. Ecocell foam provides sheer luxurious support for the whole body.

Medium firmness

We already mentioned firmness at the beginning of our review, but it is one of the most important features of all mattresses and pillows, so it deserves to be talked about in more detail. On a firmness scale of 1 to 10, the Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress is around 7, maybe even 7.5 which depends on your body weight but also preferences.

This places it among the medium to firm mattresses that are suitable for stomach and back sleepers, and it is too firm for most side sleepers. This mattress is certainly not too firm, so you don’t have to worry about it, it is comfortable as well.

23cm of mattress height

Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress is an average thick hybrid mattress. It is 23 cm thick, which is perhaps a little below average for hybrid mattresses, which are usually thicker than the other types, but this is certainly not a classic hybrid mattress because it has a latex layer. There is no need for the latex layer to be as thick as a memory foam layer for example, so that is the reason why this mattress is 23 cm thick and not 25 + cm which you probably expect when buying a hybrid mattress.

Review of Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress

Dormeo Options Hybrid Latex mattress is 23 cm thick and suitable for front and back sleepers. The primary reason why it is suitable for those two sleep positions, but not for side sleeping, is firmness, since it is firmer than most medium firm mattresses. Therefore, it will provide ideal support for hips and shoulders if you sleep on your stomach or back and thus enable spinal alignment.

Individual pocket springs give unique support because each spring works independently. If you do not sleep alone, it will also be very important to you because you will have the impression that you are sleeping alone due to excellent motion isolation. It is good for hot sleepers, since Airmesh walls will supply you with fresh air always.

The latex layer will mold around your body and make you very comfortable sleeping. The cover is not removable, so it is advisable to use bedding. We can’t consider it hypoallergenic, since there are people allergic to latex. Free delivery is included, and our biggest complaint is the too short warranty period – just 1 year.

  • We believe that 99% of back and front sleepers will be very happy with the pressure relief and support that this mattress provides
  • Thanks to the Airmesh sides, the mattress is highly breathable
  • We like that it has a latex layer, because latex is a material that has a lot of benefits.

  • 1-year warranty is way too short for a mattress, especially a mattress of this price
  • Dormeo Latex mattress is too hard for most side sleepers
  • It is available in four sizes – Single, Double, King and Super king, which is enough, but it would be desirable if it is available in several other sizes, for example Small Double.

What makes this product better than some other similar ones?

Dormeo is a company that has established itself on the UK market as one of the best mattress manufacturers, and the Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress is no exception. It is a high quality mattress, which provides pressure relief, support and that is highly breathable. Also, we really like the addition of latex layer, as well as Airmesh sides that allow unobstructed air circulation.

Although it is not something you will notice first when you buy this mattress, but non-slip base will make your sleep even more pleasant.  All this together makes Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress better than some other similar ones and gives you best night’s sleep.

How did we test the product?

Charge of £ 4.95 is applied to smaller items on orders under £ 79, but since you are buying mattress delivery is free. The Highlands and Islands can be exceptions where there may be extra charges, but check this out before ordering. According to the information available on the site at the time of writing this review, the mattress will be delivered to you in 5 to 7 working days. Gibraltar, which is the British Overseas Territory, and the Channel Islands which are considered part of the UK are not places where Dormeo delivers its products. 60 night trial does not apply to this mattress.

Our Dormeo Hybrid Latex mattress arrived in the scheduled 5 to 7 days, so we have no complaints. After unpacking, we immediately checked for any damage, in order to avoid losing the already short warranty. Craftsmanship is at a high level which is to be expected from products in this price range.

Before we started the test, which lasted two weeks, we first did a roller test to check if there were certain durability concerns. The mattress has passed the durability test with the highest grades so you don’t have to worry about the warranty being so short.

During the two-week testing, we were convinced of all the characteristics of this mattress. Back and stomach sleepers from our test team had a very positive opinion of this mattress at the end of the test, it gave them great night’s sleep. On the other hand, the side sleepers were very pleased with some of the features, but it was still too firm for them especially after experiencing the pain in the shoulder and arm in the morning for several days in a row.
