The Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow is the softest pillow from Emma Sleep and is suitable for almost every type of sleeper.

This pillow is not to be confused with the Emma Premium Pillow (the upgrade from the Emma Original Pillow) which is their memory foam option. You'll get a completely different sleeping experience with the microfibre pillow – it's ideal for comfort over support.

We wanted to put it to the test to see how it compares to the other pillows. Here's our full Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow review.

Who is the Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow for?

Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow is made for those who just can't seem to find a perfect pillow to match their needs. Emma took a slightly different approach when designing this pillow. The idea of this pillow is to have an adjustable height so you can alter it to complement your sleeping position. It's been developed for those who get hot throughout the night with their technology to dissipate heat.

What do we use this product for?

If you have neck issues or wake up feeling stiff because your pillow doesn't match your needs – you might consider using the Emma Premium Microfibre. The Premium Microfibre Pillow is specially designed to give you a range of possibilities when it comes to adjusting your pillow's height and firmness so that you can finally find that perfect spot.

Does the Microfibre Pillow come in different versions?

There's another version of this pillow and that is simply the Emma Microfibre Pillow, rather than the Premium Microfibre Pillow. As you might have guessed from the names, the Premium one (this one) is the more advanced design. Another essential version of their microfibre pillow is the Basic Comfort Pillow which is their most simplistic choice.

Basic Comfort Pillow

This is a simple pillow that does the job. There isn't anything too special about it but it's a soft and comfortable option for a more reasonable price. Every sleep position can enjoy this product as you'll gently sink in. Even if you move throughout the night, it will return to shape and adjust to the new position.

Microfibre Pillow

This pillow is very similar to the premium option – it has an adjustable height and support. It's just a cheaper alternative with less technology. The microfibre pillow has a padded covering with two pillows inside. The inner pillows can be removed and inserted as you need, to fit your sleep style. You'll have a cloud-like sleep.

Premium Microfibre Pillow

The most advanced option from Emma's microfibre pillows. It has all the features of the microfibre pillow but this one has an extra layer that manages any heat that hits the pillow. This layer makes the product cool to the touch and enhances the breathable design.

Before moving on with our Emma pillow review, we wanted to talk to you about some of the features that make this pillow special and unique.

Review of Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow

Emma’s Microfibre Pillow is so fluffy and comfy to rest your head on, so if it’s comfort you’re after – you won’t be disappointed. As soon as my head hit the pillow, the surrounding filling shaped to my position. If you’re like me, and often change the way you sleep then you will find it harder to use because it can be slow to return to its original shape. However, other perks might make that tolerable.

Those who stick to the one sleep position all night or rarely change it will love this pillow.

Front sleepers may find it too high loft, but there is an adjustable layer to adapt the height and firmness to suit your sleep style. So, as you may have guessed, you can access the layers by removing the cover. Inside you will find the two removable layers (soft pillows). One of them is a thicker layer to give you some support and the other is thinner. We would suggest keeping them both for side sleepers, as the cover also has padding – I found that it fills the space between the mattress and your head. Those who are back sleepers will want to consider removing one of the layers, and a stomach sleeper is likely to remove both layers.

What we like about the Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow

• We like the soft touch finish of this pillow. It's super kind and gentle on your skin so there is no risk of irritation. The pillow can be used without a pillow protector as it's comfortable to lie – but of course, it might be worth having one to keep it cleaner for longer.
• Unlike the foam pillows, this Emma pillow is fully machine-washable so you can stay on top of the maintenance and it's easy to do.
• Lastly, the pillow is made from naturally hypoallergenic materials which means allergy-sufferers won't be affected when using this product when they sleep.

What we don't like about the Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow

• This Emma pillow might be more expensive than pillows from the same category, or other alternatives that you might find. However, it is a high quality pillow so it comes down to your personal preference.
• Some of us prefer firmer pillows, and if that's the case then this one is not for you. As a combination sleeper, I find this one harder to sleep with.

Emma's customer service and company information

Delivery – At Emma Sleep, you can get free delivery on all your orders and returns are free within the trial period. It can take around a week for your product to be dispatched, but once it has, you’ll be sent a tracking link. This is followed by a text with a delivery date and a separate text with a time slot. On the day of delivery, you will receive a phone call when they are nearby.

Payment – They have the usual payment methods, as well as PayPal. An alternative would be to use the DivideBuy scheme where you pay in instalments.

Online customer service – In terms of customer service, any queries can be sent to their email address. Although, there is a range of FAQs so you’ll probably be able to find the answer to a lot of your questions there.

Check the alternatives to the Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow

If you are ideally looking for a pillow that is similar to the Emma one but perhaps is more sustainable then we have just the product for you. Although this clever design might seem unique, other alternatives do the same thing. We know that it's really useful to have an adjustable height – and it's even more practical to have in the spare room when different guests will need to use the same pillow.

Here is the other option we have for you.

Aeyla The Dual Pillow

The Dual Pillow is ever so slightly more expensive but it's another great pillow. If you pay that little bit extra then you can be happy knowing that you've paid for one that's better for the environment. Not only that, it's good for those who wake up with aches and pains and it can be altered to suit your sleep style. This one is more practical for side sleepers as you won't sink in as much as you do with the Emma Microfibre Pillow. However, it still isn't the best one we've tried for that sleeping position.

Why is this product better than some other similar ones?

What makes Emma Premium Microfibre better than some other pillows is the fact that they've really hit the nail on the head when it comes to what an adjustable pillow should be. It's soft, fluffy, offers excellent support and doesn't get warm – what more could you wish for in a pillow?

Is the Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow eco-friendly or sustainable?

Emma doesn’t mention sustainability on their website, but what we know from the materials they use is that they’re not the best for the environment. Polyester has an impact from production to disposal – and that is purely what this pillow is made from.

How did we test the product?

With every product we review, we undergo a handful of tests to see if it is accurate to the brand descriptions. This includes paying close attention to the success of the key features. All the products we review go through the following tests:

Overall impressions of the product after the testing

From the first look, I could tell that it’s a very plump pillow and then the reality hit – you’ll need to keep plumping it regularly so it stays like this and lasts longer. In other words, there might be a bit more maintenance with this one.

For the smaller details, Emma has blue piping around the edge of the pillow to enhance its structure. It’s such a simple touch, yet, it brings a luxury feel to the design.

Overall, Emma’s Microfibre Pillow can provide you with so much comfort but it isn’t the most supportive pillow out there. It’s great that you’re able to adjust the pillow to suit the way you sleep, yet it’s an expensive product. You will need to weigh up the pros and cons for your personal preference.
