Unlike many other open-coil mattresses, we wouldn't use the Eco Comfort Miracoil Luxury in a guest room or as a kids‘ transitioning mattress. Eco Comfort Miracoil Luxury is a mattress that you could, and probably should, use as your main, go-to mattress in your master bedroom.
Every mattress has its own set of defining features and characteristics that set it apart from the other ones. Well, here are the ones you should know about more when it comes to this one.
An open-coil mattress must always come with a great cushioning layer in order to provide quality comfort. To help you achieve a refreshing night's sleep, fibres have been intelligently constructed vertically to offer extra support and help you move freely through the night.
This ingenious quilted cushioning minimizes motion transfer, or “roll-together”, when paired with a Miracoil zoned spring system and ensures that you wake up invigorated and rested.
Silentnight's exclusive Miracoil system offers outstanding support, superior spinal alignment, broadens sleeping space and reduces “roll-together” for less partner disturbance during the night. The Miracoil system is also zoned for perfect spinal alignment and offers firmer support.
All of this is done to help you achieve a full night of quality sleep. We all know just how important proper spinal alignment and support is, and that is exactly what this Eco Comfort's spring support system brings to the table.
At 24cm deep, this open coil mattress is essentially perfectly deep. It's not too thin so that you would easily sink and feel the coils on or god forbid the bed frame underneath you, but it is also not as thick so that you can find an appropriate fitted sheet for it.
Furthermore, at 24cm, you can be certain that sitting on the edge and getting out of the bed won't be a problem, because most of the bed frames and bases are manufactured with equally deep mattresses in mind.
The Eco Comfort fibres, from which the cover is made, have been treated with Purotex – a natural treatment that combats allergens to create a safe, hypoallergenic and dust mite-free sleeping environment.
Having a hypoallergenic sleeping environment is essential for many sleepers that have to deal with seasonal allergies or conditions like asthma.
Now, for the main event – the review of Silentnight Eco Comfort Miracoil Luxury mattress.
Just as advertised, this is a firmer mattress, which is expected from an open-coiled base. Coil mattresses are known to offer firm support, and that's the case with this one, as well.
The mattress feels sturdy and supportive, and instead of cradling and cuddling you, when you lie down, it feels like you're lying on top of the mattress, instead of laying into it, if you know what we mean. That's not to say that there's no “give” to it. Your core areas will still somewhat sink into the mattress, however, we didn't find this one to be too pleasant if you're a side sleeper.
For an open coil mattress, this one isolates motion quite well, and unless you or your partner are moving around frantically – neither of you should be disturbed while you sleep.
Furthermore, the lack of memory foam makes this mattress quite cool, so you won't have any issues with overheating even during the warmest months of the year.
On the other hand, what really concerns us is the durability of this mattress. We did notice some signs of sinking during our testing, so we wouldn't really expect this one to last for more than 4 years. On that note, we'd recommend turning the mattress over once every month for as long as you're using it.
Finally, the Eco Comfort Miracoil Luxury comes in a few sizes: Single, Double, King and Super King.
We've prepared a few alternative options if our reviewee does not sound like something you might be interested in.
Super Ortho is an affordable, hand-made hand-tufted orthopaedic mattress. Just as our reviewee, its open coil support system offers outstanding support, making it ideal for back and stomach sleepers.
On the other hand, it's not the most comfortable mattress, so you would probably want to add a mattress topper on top of this one.
OTTY Orignal hybrid is one of the best mattresses that your money can buy. It is very comfortable and supportive, does not get hot, and it offers great motion isolation.
Despite being a hybrid, it is still quite firm, basically as firm as our reviewee, which is exactly what makes it an appropriate alternative option.

What we love most about Silenight's Eco Comfort Luxury mattress is the fact that it is 100% recyclable. Everything from breathable and sustainable fibres, down to the open coil spring system – everything can be recycled and reused, which is something everyone should strive towards if we wish to protect our environment.
As always, the first thing we did was order the product. We've visited Silentnight's website, found the mattress, pressed add to basket and placed our order. Unfortunately, there is no next-day delivery, but then again, you do get free delivery to the room of choice, so that's something.
The mattress arrived in a box, and upon unpacking, it took about half a day for it to expand fully. We've inspected the cover for physical damages or possible protruding coils, but as expected, everything was in perfect order.
Each of our team members had spent ten nights with this one. Some slept on a slatted base, some on a solid one and some did both. Also, we've played with a thermometer a little bit, only to see whether we'd get hot or not.
All in all, the results were satisfying. The mattress bode just as well on a slatted base as it did on the firm one, and as we've expected – overheating was not an issue.
On the other hand, the results weren't as satisfying when we did the roller test. We feel like it's safe to say that this mattress won't hold up well over time, which is a common problem with open coil mattresses. After a while, it'll become softer, and you might even notice some sinking.
